<p><strong>Two hundred and fifty-six sacred herbs, drawn from two traditions that have not been printed together before.</strong></p><p>One hundred and two from the Lukumí cuarto de santo, one hundred and fifty from the Yoruba record of Ifẹ̀, and four that complete the count of the Odù. Each entry carries the leaf's name, its botanical identity, the òrìṣà who owns it, and the odù under which the babaláwo classifies it.</p><p>Where the source preserves the ọfọ̀ — the incantation that wakes the leaf — it is given with its translation and the wordplay the working turns on. Illustrated throughout with 252 botanical photographs. Readings that could not be established are marked Unknown rather than filled.</p>
